Delivery Method

Delivering e-Learning to your organisation in the right way at the right time depends on the distribution requirement, the infrastructure available and the number of learners in the organisation. The following table describes some of the different options and recommendations for when they should be considered.

Delivery method

Who needs it?

How will it be delivered?

Why should I use this method?

CD ROM

Learning materials accessible on a standalone PC.

Nominated users who access learning materials locally at their PCs.

Single or multiple CDs for use by an individual or small groups sharing a CD.

Suited to meet standalone requirements or where network connectivity is limited.

Network / Intranet

Centrally located training materials on your corporate network / intranet can be accessed by designated PCs attached to the network.

Users who need the flexibility to access learning materials from a number of PCs from a central source.

e-Learning software located centrally on the corporate network / intranet and available to all users who have access and authorisation to materials on the corporate network.

e-Learning material is:

Easily accessible from a central location.

Easy to deploy.

Easily controlled and upgraded.

Internet

Internet Learning materials are loaded on to an externally-hosted e-Learning portal website which can be accessed by designated PCs with Internet access.

Users who need access to learning materials at multiple locations, easily and conveniently, in their own time.

Any Internet-ready device, suitable for e-Learning may access the material through an e-Learning portal website provided they have suitable privileges.

Scalable way of:

Managing a large number of learners

Delivering e-Learning content to multiple learning locations with minimal involvement.

Portal providing a central mechanism for deploying multiple e-Learning materials from multiple publishers in a controlled and consistent manner.

Managed e-Learning Centre

A managed E-Learning Centre equipped with PCs and staffed by professional mentors, on hand to assist learners.

Users requiring cost-effective training, delivered in a controlled environment with hands-on support.

Hosted at Atlas Interactive in Aberdeen, a fully-equipped training environment for 45 simultaneous learners. Can also be established in your own international location.

Controlled, outsourced function particularly useful for mandatory HSE training with verification of the learner and hands-on support.

Remote / Onsite Mentoring Support

Mentor-delivered learning or mentoring support can be provided on a one-to-one basis or in a group environment, either remotely or at your work location.

Those who require mentoring support or who require e-Learning delivery with support in the workplace.

Either internally or by Atlas Interactive. Qualified mentors with PCs deliver the e-Learning at the workplace or oversee and support the learners remotely via the Internet.

Where mentoring support is important and travel to an e-Learning Centre is not practical or cost effective.

Records & results storage

Records & results storage

Who needs it?

How will it be delivered?

Why should I use this method?

Local

Records and results stored locally on PC.

Those who have a basic requirement to record results locally.

Learner results are written to a local database resident on a local PC.

Where distribution of the learning materials is confined.
Where network connectivity is limited.

Intranet

Centrally stored records and results on your corporate network.

Those who require central reporting and administration functions with possible integration into other corporate systems such as a corporate Learning Management System (LMS).

Learner results are written to a central location on the corporate network. Results and records can be viewed from a central location.

Where the distribution of the learning materials is remote and central control / viewing of results is important. Where network connectivity and corporate Learning Management System (LMS) is available.

Internet

Centrally held records and results stored on the Internet via an externally hosted e-Learning portal site, with an onboard Learning Management System (LMS).

As for Intranet option above but with externally hosted option allowing integration of multiple e-Learning materials from multiple publishers.

Learner results written to a central Internet location. Results and records published against learners accounts, viewable centrally by those with appropriate privileges.

When the distribution of learning materials and central control / viewing of results is important.
If an Internet connection is available.
If consolidation of e-Learning records - regardless of publisher - is required.
